Acne Scarring
Acne scarring is usually the result of skin pores becoming blocked with excess oil, bacteria and dead skin that show as inflamed blemishes.
As the pores in the skin swell, there is a break in the follicle wall causing a lesion. Shallow lesions are usually minor and quickly heal without leaving a lasting impression on the skin. However, if there is a deeper break in the wall of the pore, infected material will affect the surrounding area creating deeper lesions.
As the skin attempts to repair these lesions by forming new collagen fibres, then new skin is not as flawless as the the original skin.
